Tolerance & Quality Assurance Policy

At Zero Waste Medals, we take pride in crafting high-quality, sustainable wooden medals with precision and care. Due to the nature of working with natural wood materials and hand-finishing processes, some minor variations may occur in the final products. This policy outlines our acceptable tolerances to ensure clarity and transparency for our customers.

1. Dimensional Tolerance

  • Our wooden medals are crafted with a precision tolerance of ±1-2mm in size due to natural material expansion, cutting processes, and finishing.
  • Thickness may vary by ±0.5mm, depending on the wood type and finish.

2. Engraving & Printing Tolerance

  • Laser engraving depth and clarity may vary within 5-10% due to differences in wood grain, density, and burn intensity.
  • Printed or painted finishes may have slight color variations (±5% shade difference) due to natural absorption rates of wood surfaces.
  • Placement of text or logos will align with approved samples within a ±2mm margin of variation.

3. Material & Color Variation

  • As wood is a natural material, there may be slight differences in grain, tone, and texture between products.
  • Variations in wood knots, patterns, and shades are inherent characteristics and add to the uniqueness of each medal.
  • While we strive for consistency, no two medals will be 100% identical due to the organic nature of the material.

4. Order Sample Approval & Final Production

  • Customers who request sample packs acknowledge that the final production run may have slight variations in engraving depth, wood grain, and color.
  • Bulk orders will be produced to match approved samples as closely as possible within the stated tolerances.

5. Quality Control & Returns

  • Every batch undergoes a thorough quality inspection before shipping to ensure compliance with our tolerances.
  • If a customer believes the delivered order falls outside of the agreed tolerances, we will review the case and offer a resolution based on our discretion (rework, replacement, or discount).
  • Any concerns must be raised within 7 days of delivery, with supporting images for assessment.

6. Custom Orders & Special Requirements

  • If your order requires stricter tolerances or specific customization needs, please communicate this before production, as additional costs may apply.
  • We are happy to work with customers to meet bespoke requirements where possible.
